About the Author

Avid drinker of Coca-Cola, L.B. Dunbar loves the sweet things in life. Her affair with all things romantic began with her first book at the tender age of six: Goldilocks and the Three Bears. One can never forget her first! From there, the reading journey includes a deep love of fairy tales, medieval knights, regency debauchery, and alpha males. She loves a deep belly laugh and a strong hug. Occasionally, she has the energy of a Jack Russell terrier. Accused, yes, that’s the correct word, of having an over active imagination; to her benefit, such an imagination works well. Author of over a dozen novels, she’s created small town worlds, rock star mayhem, and MMA chaos. Her other duties in life include: mother to four growing children and wife to the one and only.

New Review! The Accalia by H.L. Girton 4.5 Cranky Stars

The Accalia (The Accalia Series Book 1)The Accalia by H.L. Girton
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

4.5 Cranky

I have my grabby hands ready for book two! I was intrigued by the synopsis of this book and this author was new to me. I love a good paranormal shifter book and this didn't disappoint me one bit.

Genesis was a normal girl. Well as normal as a girl can be seemingly on the run from what she doesn't know. Her aunt moves them place to place under the guise of wanderlust. She has finally made a best friend in Madeline and life seems on track. Genesis has always been a homebody while her best friend is more of a social butterfly. She convinces Genesis that a graduation party would be safe but boy is she ever wrong. On that faithful night her life is uprooted and she meets the enigmatic but slightly scary Liam.

Liam notices Genesis and is immediately intrigued. He wants to know this seemingly gentle beautiful woman but his life is anything but normal. He watches her from afar, which I know sounds creepy, but he can't quite understand why he is drawn to her. He is the Beta of a well known pack and his life is mapped out but fate intervenes and he saves Genesis life.

I can't wait to continue with this series! Even the background characters needed to be noticed and heard. I will admit at times I disliked Genesis for how whiny she could be and how she flies off the handle at a moments notice without thinking first. She's 18 so can we really expect her to act right? Liam just seemed to know what he wanted even at 22. There was a few minor typos mainly words missing but all in all excellent book!! I can't wait to dive into book two and see where Genesis and Liam and the pack take us.

New Review! How I Magically Messed up My Life in Four Freakin Days by Megan O'Russell 4 Cranky Stars

How I Magically Messed Up My Life in Four Freakin' DaysHow I Magically Messed Up My Life in Four Freakin' Days by Megan O'Russell
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

First let's start off with how long this title is. It's a mouthful. I wasn't sure what to expect when I opened this book but I was pleasantly surprised. Despite my age I've always loved YA and the sweetness behind it.

Bryant was a awkward 17 year old guy with his head in the clouds. He daydreamed so much that he was constantly being pulled out of traffic by little old ladies. He is always with his ever present best friend the enigmatic Devon. Bryant is trying to make it one day at a time while admiring his high school crush and staying up to date with the latest video games. Typical teenage boy things yet Bryants life is about to become anything but normal when they find a cell phone left behind in a taxi.

Bryant finds the owner of this cell phone and suddenly his life is in an uproar. Sides are choosen and maybe just maybe he might discover a side he never knew existed all the while winning the girl.

I did enjoy this book but I wasn't sure at first what to make of it. I read YA often but I still wasn't sure my feelings till about the middle of this book and I wanted to see the greater good win. I thought at times I had this book figured out but boy was I wrong. I loved the supporting characters of Devon and Elizabeth and who could forget the oracle slash Mama Odie character of Lola!! She was pure magic.

Eric at one point started to grow on me but I remained leary of him till the end. This book would be good for a teenager or young adult looking for a fun magical journey in the heart of New York City. I'm curious to see how this series will play out.

New Review! Love Revealed by J.C. Santo 4 Cranky Stars

Love Revealed (Navy Love Series #4)Love Revealed by J.C. Santo
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Marshall is tall, dark and handsome. He's a man's man in every way. He loves his friends and family fiercely and would do anything for them. If he didn't tell you, you'd never guess that he is gay.

Preston is career Navy and buried deep in the closet. He has had bad experiences with coming out so he made the choice to hide his sexuality.

When Marshall and Preston meet sparks fly. Can their relationship survive hiding from the world?
I loved this book. Marshall takes care of all his friends. He's the glue that holds them all together. I fell in love with him in book 1 and now I absolutely adore his character. This is truly a love conquers all. This series is one that I enjoyed even with the editing issues. I look forward to reading more from this author.

Jo is a strong, courageous and beautiful woman. She loves her friends like family and family comes first always. She's very independent and finds it difficult to lean on her friends for support. When she gets hit by one tragedy after another she shuts down.

JC went from being the ultimate ladies man to knight in shining armor. He is just as stubborn as Jo is but is he the man she needs to bring her back to life?

This book touched my heart in so many ways. Everything that Jo went through I've experienced first hand so I found myself crying throughout the book. I wish the author would do a re-edit as I'm noticing the same type of mistakes in the other books in this series. With that being said I still recommend this series.

New Review! Love Unexpected by J.C. Santo 3 Cranky Stars

Love Unexpected (Navy Love, #2)Love Unexpected by J.C. Santo
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Teagan is Tessa's little sister. She moved to Norfolk to go to college and be closer to Tessa. Teagan is in love with Love. She can almost romanticize any situation until she meets Reed.

Reed is a player and not wanting any kind of attachment. He's content with his one night stands until Teagan. She flipped his world upside down causing him to question everything about his life.

This author has a talent of sucking you into the story. The characters are amazing and the romance is out of this world HOT. This has the potential to be a 5 star book but the editing needs work. At times I found myself rereading sections just to figure out what was being said. It really distracted me from the story. With that said if you stick with it the book is really good.

Tessa is a fun, energetic, loving, beautiful party girl. She is career Navy and her small group of friends is her family. Relationships are a four letter word to her. Despite being very set in her ways her best friends twin broher knocks her for a loop. Suddenly Tessa is questioning everything about her life.

Hunter is the quintessential "hot teacher". To top that he's the father and sole support to the world's most incredible little girl. When baby mama drama gets to be too much he decides to move to Norfolk to be closer to his family. His twin Marshall introduces him to Tessa and sparks fly.

I really loved this story. The characters are fun and people I'd love to know. This author portrays real life situations, the good, bad, ugly and irreversible. I wanted to give this 5 stars but the book needs a re-edit. At times the mistakes had me wanting to stop reading but I'm glad I forged on. This series has the potential to be a 5 star rating and a best seller. I look forward to reading more.

New Review! Redemption Island by L.B. Dunbar 5 Cranky Stars

Redemption Island: Island Duet OneRedemption Island: Island Duet One by L.B. Dunbar
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

5 Cranky Stars

Redemption Island by L.B. Dunbar is an amazing dark romance read. It will make you reevaluate your life. There are twists and turns that will have you thinking about the story, long after you have read it.

The story of Juliet and Tack is redemption after their own personal dramas. While this is a departure from the normal genre that Dunbar writes; she has knocked this one out of the ballpark.
I was seriously blown away with how different this book was from her other stories. This is a good thing. I love how the backstory was sprinkled throughout the story. It gives you a chance to see how much the main characters have evolved. I thought the dialogue was on point. The interaction between Tack and Juliet was realistic. The action is steadily paced, along with the characters growth.

This book took me out of my comfort zone. It made me think about second chances, finding myself, and what I would do if I was placed in Juliet’s situation. While at first, I had zero sympathy for Tack. I really felt like he had brought on all his problems onto himself, I almost overlooked the fact that he was showing growth. There were a few moments where I felt like screaming at him to grow up.

The dynamic between the two main characters and the secondary characters was fleeting. I could sense the tension between Tack and Colton, and I really wish there was more of an explanation of why they antagonized one another. That is the only issue that I had with the story. L.B. Dunbar, on the off chance that you read this review: I want you to know that you did an amazing job. I will recommend this story to everyone who loves stories like this.
