Before She Was Mine by Amelia Wilde
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
4.5 Cranky Stars
Summer has always loved Dayton. He was her brothers best friend and untouchable to her yet he was always there until one day he wasn’t. She is going through the motions of her daily life. Her relationship with her brother is strained ever since an argument when they were young. She didn’t expect one of her appointments at Heros on the Homefront to be none other than the boy she was told to avoid. Now she is trying to find a place for this damaged man in her heart and in society.
Dayton always belonged to Summer. He was warned to stay away from her repeatedly. He sets off for war and comes back a changed and damaged man. He ultimately makes the worst decision possible and is now living in squalor. He doesn’t want to drag anyone down with him and has no real plans to better his life. When he walks into Heros on the Homefront he didn’t expect to come face to face with his past.
Before You Were Mine tells us the story of Summer and Dayton now and in the past. The vital moments that lead to them loving each other from afar. This book isn’t without its drama and heartbreak. We see relationships mended and love blossoming. I loved these two and the future ahead for them. I can’t wait to see what else Amelia Wilde has in store.
