New Review! Lizzie Borden Zombie Hunter by C.A. Verstraete 4 Cranky Stars
Lizzie Borden, Zombie Hunter by C.A. Verstraete
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
4 Cranky Stars
We all know the story. Lizzie Borden took an ax and gave her mother 40 whacks. When she saw what she had done she gave her father 41. This book takes that story and flips it to what if Lizzie killed her parents because they turned into zombies?
Lizzie leads a comfortable life as a woman in high society. Her father Andrew Borden owns several business ventures. One day Lizzie wakes up to grunts and groans and is shocked by the scene in front of her. Life as Lizzie knows it Is gone and she’s on trial. She tries to take care of her sister Emma through all this. She discovers a whole new world outside her door and joins a secret society while trying to piece together what role her father plays in this debacle. Lizzie becomes a pretty kick butt zombie hunter. She will protect her and her sister at all cost. Even with the title of murderess hanging over her head.
I will be the first to admit I don’t read books set in older times yet I took a chance on Lizzie Borden because her story has always fascinated me. This book was well done with lots of action. It was gory at times and you can almost hear the squishy sounds the zombies made. Gag!! It kept me interested from beginning to end and it was an interesting take on a true story. I hope we see more of Pierre in the next book and we finally get some answers as to why Mr. Borden was involved in such a nefarious plan.
