New Review! Fade by Ashley Munoz 4.5 Cranky Stars

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

4.5 Cranky Stars

I really don’t know how to review this because I don’t want to give away a big plot of the story. I will admit I was lost for several chapters thinking ok did I miss something in Ramsey and Jimmy’s book that happened to Laney? I even read the prequel novella before starting Fade and still no dice. I jumped in and sure enough it unfolds in the pages of this book.

Laney has suffered trauma and Jackson is still relationship adverse. When he finally puts the final nail in the non-relationship coffin Laney tries so hard to erase him from her mind. Jackson doesn’t realize that all the heartache he is feeling is really love. When the source of Jackson and Laney’s trauma is back out in the world they are forced into hiding. They head to her family’s farm to lay low and hopefully mend their relationship. Just when they think its safe to head home, they realize the threat is knocking right on Laney’s door and Jackson must once again save her.

There is a lot of story to digest. It has moments where it hops back in time so the story can unfold. I found myself frustrated with both Jackson and Laney at times. How he couldn’t get in his thick head that he was capable of love and relationship worthy and Laney for how she dodged her feelings at every turn when it was a perfect time to talk. They went through a lot and it’s not all drama there is love deep down. There is family and friends and happy times. I suggest you read Glimmer first to get a glimpse of these two then the origin story of Jackson and Laney before you jump into Fade.
