Millicent Merriweather AKA Merri has always had a crush on Tom Franklin. It started when she was just a kid in middle school and he was a high schooler. She was certain that it was a one-way street. He went off to join the Army and get engaged while she settled for a jerk and got engaged as well. They remained best friends even when their separate engagements ended. Tom has always harbored feelings for Merri. He has always remained in her life and thought he was permanently benched in the friend zone until one day he takes a leap. They are cautious and fearful they won’t work and it will end their friendship they’ve become so dependent on. When they do finally get past that hump it’s sparks like you’ve never seen.
This was a novella so it was quick. It started off as this sweet little romance then about the last few chapters things took a turn to kinky town. It was a bit odd, but I rolled with it. I guess it was just the comfort of the relationship made them more open to new things. I liked the dynamic between these two they verbally sparred and it was cute. Tom was described repeatedly as a nerdy guy with tech skills and glasses but then he turned into a total alpha with his sex talk. All in all, this was a pretty fun little read with a cute little epilogue to wrap it up.
