This is a fun story about an island Kingdom in the White Sea. The author gives us a complete list of lands, their rulers and other important characters. It is very similar to the Game of Thrones story and keeps you on the edge of your seat.
The reigning King of the island is Eoghan Rhiagain who lives in Duncarrow another small island off the coast. He is hated by all as he killed his father and brother. Eoghan wants a wife but he was born deformed and is a cruel ruler so he calls for the oldest daughter from each of the four houses to be sent to him. He will marry them all and the first to bear a child will be the Queen. However, what the parents will not do, the children will do. They gather their brothers, sisters, cousins and friends and run away. These children are all under 16 and none of the girls wants to marry this tyrant. There are too many adventures along the way to list without spoilers.
The story is entertaining and the author does a great job of laying the groundwork for this series. There is magic and intrigue on every page. You'll laugh and cry with these characters and wish you could yell at others. A very satisfying read.
