4 Cranky Stars

I gave four stars to the whole series. While some books did stand out more for me this was a good collection of stories about acceptance, finding out who you are and redemption in the face of an unlikely death. It’s four books about four people who find love when they least expect it and in the least likely person. The books seem on the short side butnot novella level and maybe that was just because they were in this box set.

Book one gives us the story of Georgina and Noah. Georgie is reeling from the loss of her “Irish Twin” Ben and she collapses under the grief and does the unthinkable. It’s Noah who becomes her savior. He has been a fixture in their family for as long as she can remember and is her sisters’ best friend. This story really stuck out for me. I loved that while they were unlikely, they made sense. Book two takes us to Ellie and Nathaniel. Ellie is a tomboy and is lesbian or so she thinks. It’s not until she meets her favorite male actor Nathaniel West that she starts to question herself and who she truly is. Nathaniel has fame and fortune and up until recently a beautiful actress girlfriend. He spots Ellie across the airport and is instantly drawn to her. What follows is a story of finding your self and accepting that you love who you love. Book three is about Rhett and Sydney. Sydney was the unassuming nerdy girl in high school who secretly loved Ben. He never knew she existed until they both took some extra credit courses to graduate high school early by then he had an exit plan to leave Kill Devil Hills. She finds herself distraught and meets Rhett and sparks fly. Flash forward they meet again and secretly over the course of a year or so they meet in secret. Rhett is known as the town manwhore and he finally meets someone he sees a future with but too bad Sydney isn’t making it easy on him. This is another case of unlikely pairing the rich girl and the poor boy who everyone wants a part of. He just wants to be loved and she just needs the type of love that Rhett can bring to the table. Book four is finally our redemption story. The story of Ben (yep that Ben) and Juniper. Ben has showed up at his family home and surprises everyone. They are shocked and beyond elated. What follows is Ben redeeming himself and doing his time. He doesn’t expect to meet Juniper who lies to him about her name. Juniper has fled from an abusive relationship while pregnant. She knows she doesn’t need the complications that come with Ben but he saves her time and time again. I was glad we got his story even if what he did was terribly wrong.

I’m glad I got to read these books my only issue was some editing type stuff seeing as these are published works. Nothing distracting just minor spelling issues and minor words missing. This is a good little series if you like semi short reads about falling in love and the steamy sexy times that goes with it. I really enjoyed Georgie and Noah’s story and Rhett and Sydney’s story. They stood out to me. I did love Ellies brash take no prisoners attitude and the heart she had underneath. I was angry with Ben while we got his story I feel like there was more to say about him and Juniper. All in all I did enjoy it and I did read them fairly quickly curious to know about the next couple in line. I can’t wait to read the spinoffs that are to come.
