New Review! Preppy by T.M. Frazier, 5 Cranky Stars
Preppy: The Life & Death of Samuel Clearwater, Part One by T.M. Frazier
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
***** 5 Cranky Stars *****
I feel dirty in the best possible way. Holy smokes Preppy! When you first meet him in King you only get a glimpse into how depraved he is. You think man he belongs in a place for the criminally insane. You feel wrong for swooning over his snark, bow ties and his pancakes. Well this book will open your eyes. You will see a side of Samuel Clearwater AKA Preppy that you wouldn't think existed.
Andrea or Dre as she's know is a junkie. Heroine is her mistress. When we meet her she's literally at rock bottom and trying to swindle her granny. Which happens to be one of the grannies mentioned in the other books. This is how she meets Preppy. He basically saves her to blackmail her. She goes along with his plan while trying to stay clean. Yet Preppy becomes her new drug.
Samuel is a psychotic mess but you would be too if you're mom was a drugged out drunk disaster who sat by while you're step father did unspeakable things to you. He dealt with life how he knew how. Always dressed up with his signature bow tie and his amazing smile. No he's not a good person but deep down he really is. He's never loved another besides his buddies but maybe Dre or Doc as he calls her may be the game changer.
This book pulled me in from the first word. I'm a loyal follower of this series. Its dirty, it's gritty but there is such love and heart in these stories. You cheer for that naughty boy and that broken girl. Everyone deserves to be loved right? It is highly suggested you read the previous books before reading this one.
We'll always have the in-between and bow ties. Now excuse me I need to go make some pancakes and cry a little.
