5 Cranky Stars
Break out your best pleather python pants and crack open an ice cold Natty light because this is the story of BB and Harley F*ing James. This is the story we didn't know we needed. We hear every beautiful lie that slips from Harleys pierced full lips and still come back for more. We feed off his pretty words. We watch BB crash all the while we are screaming at the book BB you in danger girl!!
BB Is now 16 and has new found freedom in a car she skrimped and saved. Her parents gift her a set of sleek rims and direct her to a mechanics shop to have them installed. It's this car that she meets the utterly adorable Harley James. BB Is still reeling from Knights disappearance into the Marines she's dealing like a 16 year old would. Full on angst and self hatred. Harley is a breath of fresh air and she clings to him because he makes her feel once again. While carrying on a relationship with Harley a dark soul from her past is making his way into her newfound light.
Harley James is a mechanic or so it appears on the outside. He is a boisterous fun loving guy that people have a healthy respect for and some fear. Harley is a guy shrouded in mystery and yet everyone but BB knows his story. He locks eyes with her when she comes into his shop and he goes for her with reckless abandon. Treating BB the way she's always wanted and In his own way starts to love her. Harley slowly starts showing his true colors once it's much to late for BB.
I didn't know I needed a story about Harley. He didn't really register in my mind and I now realize how wrong I was. This story is flawed and real. We can all find some part of teenage BB inside our own former teenage selves. The bad choice in men and the utterly regrettable bad decisions but yet we can't truly regret them because they led us to the life we lead now.
This was a story about growing up. I absolutely adore all of BB Eastons works. She takes such true to life experiences and makes us feel not so alone. Her male leads are someone we have all known at some point in life. Only BB Easton could craft not so glamorous life experiences and make them relatable and sexy. Cheers to you BB but please not with tequila unless you want me to unleash my Hulk Harley.
