Fire and Fate (Dragons of Galicia, #1)Fire and Fate by Simone Pond
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

5 Cranky Stars

Evelyn is an 18 year old who wants nothing more than to get out of her boring little town. Just when she feels that she'll be stuck working on her mother's farm for the rest of her life, Prince Kieran notices her as a possible lady-in-waiting. He's absolutely taken by her. This is exactly what Evelyn has been dreaming of.

The possibility of living an easy and pampered life in the castle is everything she could ever want... Until she finds out that she's descended from a legendary dragon slayer and she is destined to follow her ancestral duties. How can Evelyn live the life she wants while hiding her dragon slayer roots from the Prince who will undoubtedly see her as treasonous? Ultimately, what will she decide for her future?

I loved this book. The historical aspect alone kept me completely enthralled with all of the well researched details. The perfectly described main character is relatable and not over the top. The supporting characters are realistic and detailed. The story flowed well and left me impatient to start the second book. If you love Celtic historical fiction, and even if you don't, this book will grab you and won't let you go.
