Willow Woods Academy for Witches: Blood Moon Coven by R.L. Weeks
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
5 Cranky Stars
This story is about two friends named Angelina and Katarina who go against their parents wishes and run away to North Carolina to attend a school for witches called Willow Woods Academy. Their parents have never explained why they don't want them to go there, but refused to let them attend the school. Even the headmistress is concerned with having both of them in the school at the same time. What could possibly be so terrible about it? The girls just want to go to the school and learn everything they can... But will their lack of knowledge of the history of what happened be their downfalls? Soon enough they learn of incidents that happened ten years prior and of all the reasons their parents kept things from them including keeping them away from the school. Will evil return to the school and threaten everyone and everything? Who will save them all?
This book is a little reminiscent of the Harry Potter books, without the complexity. While there are some similarities, this book is able to keep its individuality and interest with a fresh storyline. The story is engaging and flows well.
The plot is well executed and the world the authors created is quite interesting. The action keeps the reader's attention without being too overdone. The characters are well developed and relatable as well as compelling. There are no real grammar or other issues to mention. Overall this is a great YA book that's easy to read and get into. I'm looking forward to reading more in this series.
