New Review! Case One: Deceit (Trudy Hicks Ghost Hunter #1) by Lori Zaremba

Case One: DeceitCase One: Deceit by Lori Zaremba
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

5 Cranky Stars

This is a 5 star paranormal story. It has ghosts, murder and deceit. What’s not to like? The characters have great backstories and work well together. To me, this story is totally credible. I would love to be exploring this old mansion with or without the ghosts.

Gertrude Hicks is an ex detective from the Pittsburgh police department. She has seen ghosts. She also was shot in the line of duty. She is a divorced Mom to a teenager, she starts her own paranormal business. She enlists the help of her friend Dana. Dana is a former police psychic and quite frequently talks to spirits. When Trudy is asked to check out a house in Chicago, she also enlists her tenant Patrick and her friend Leslie, a lawyer. They have state of the art equipment in their van. Off to Chicago they go.

Everyone is shocked when they see the house. It is huge. With three floors, an attic and a basement they may be in over their heads. When the psychic manifestations start, they start to question their abilities. To make matters worse, they meet Jason who runs a surveillance business. Of course, he doesn’t believe in ghosts so is looking for a logical explanation to the “haunting.” It does not take long before he finds out what he is really up against. His beliefs change quite rapidly, he falls in love with Trudy and the ghost hunt takes a chilling turn.

You’ll have to read this book to find out the truth behind the haunting, I’m not telling. Looking forward to a Case 2.
