5 Cranky Stars

Do you believe in Haunted Houses? I do so I loved this book. The story revolves around Adelaide, Tim and their daughter Michaela. Its been a tough couple of years for Adelaide. Miscarriages and a still birth have devastated her. She wants to be a writer, but her book gets rejection after rejection. They decide they need a fresh start in a new city and a new house.

The first house they see looks too good to be true. It is the first ranch style house to be built in Big Springs, TX. It was constructed in 1899 by a French couple. Inside is just as intriguing but Adelaide is sure it is too expensive. There are more rooms than she ever dreamed she could afford. There are also secret spaces and rooms. Her 11-year-old daughter falls head over heels for this house. The only drawback is the building next door. Its an old mental hospital but they are assured it will be torn down soon. The house had belonged to the two doctors that ran the hospital, but they retired to Jamaica and their kids are selling the house.

There is plenty of mystery in this house with cold drafts. Michaela develops a friendship with an imaginary French girl or is it a ghost? Then they find out there are 3 ghost humans and a ghost dog. The plot thickens when the retired doctors return to the house. Page turning thriller from start to finish.
