I really, really liked this book! I was pleasantly surprised by it and that's a good thing, as you know, I'm really a cranky curmudgeon and all.
On The Rocks is a good read. It isn't your typical "romance" read, nor is it your typical "erotic" read, though it DOES have elements of both. You'll pull out your tissue while looking for fresh batteries!
Royce is Mr. Dark and Handsome and London is the Blond Bombshell who (of course) has a man that she is NOT happy with. Now...I may be a bit jaded but I WAS expecting a teensy bit more character development with the boyfriend, BUT he served his purpose.
Okay, I"ll be honest, I wanted him to be a serial killer who doesn't take rejection well...what can I say??
Royce is the town playboy with an interesting backstory that London finds irresistible BUT she is managing to resist. I love her best friend and party girl and the inclusion and ordinary treatment of LGBT characters is a big plus on my end.
What made this book good for me was that the lovemaking scenes were not only HOT but BELIEVABLE. And the romance in it was something I wanted, not sappy, not overly dripping with saccharine.
This is a thoughtfully written novel, one that leaves me hoping for a sequel!
