5 Cranky Stars

Finally, a story about Nate!! You remember Nate, right? Alden’s best friend and Natalie’s brother. We finally get his story and it’s about his love for a girl named Jenny Jones. No not tv talk show host Jenny Jones that would be weird but oddly funny to read.

Jenny has always harbored a crush on her best friends brother. She sees the string of women he loves and leaves while she is more of a forever kind of girl. He sparks something in her that she has never felt not even with her one-time long-term boyfriend who made her feel bad about her diabetes pump. It stuck with her and made her self-conscience about her body and her illness. When she finally decides to make the leap at a wedding to finally bed Nate it’s fireworks but waking up the next morning sent her crashing. She knows he’s a good person with a huge heart and settles on being his friend.

Nate is a tough as nails cop with a lady killer reputation. Nate has a crush on Jenny ever since she swooped in at his niece’s birthday party to help out. He sees her as too good for him. He harbors a lot of guilt over a college girlfriend that went wrong. When he gets in bed with Jenny, he starts to doubt his self-imposed relationship hiatus. He sets out to know her as a person and they become best friends. The spark is still there and he’s scared to jump. One tiny blip in time makes him realize that he wants more but he’s about to possibly wreck the best thing ever.

I love Nate. I loved him in Best Laid Plans and hoped for his story. Boy did L.K. Farlow deliver! His story touches your heart and you realize that guilt can rule your life. Nate comes off at this love them and leave them type but deep down he has a heart. I liked that Jenny was a character with an illness. That is not something portrayed in books nowadays. She wasn’t naïve just inexperienced, but her love of Nate warmed your heart. I absolutely loved this book. Now can we get a Duke story? The little bit I got of his story tugged on my heart and I want him to find love. Please?
