New Review! The Dragon Sea Chronicles: Boxed Set by Brian S. Ference 5 Cranky Stars

The Dragon Sea Chronicles: Boxed SetThe Dragon Sea Chronicles: Boxed Set by Brian S. Ference

5 Cranky Stars

I have loved stories with dragon riders since I found the world of Pern years ago. They are so magical and majestic. This is 3 stories that take place on the islands in the Dragon Sea. The first book Dragonclaw Dare ends a little abruptly and I did get confused at first. The second book, Dragon Sea: Mage Reborn starts two years after the first book ends but after just a few pages, I figured out where it was going. It was smooth sailing (pun intended) from there on. The third book is Dragon Mage: Uprising.

Our hero is a 17-year-old whose father trains the dragon riders of the Red Claw Islands. Primarily, fishermen, they are not as fierce fighters as the Black Claw Islanders nor the Pirates. Darek hopes to be a fisherman and sail the Dragon Sea. The dragon riders protect the towns and accompany the ships for safety. Lately the seas are being plagued by sea-serpents. When Darek gets drunk at a festival, he accepts a dare that will change his life forever. He finds himself caught by Pirates and sold into slavery. His quest for freedom leads him to the old Dragon Mage Agrippa. From him, he discovers he is to be trained as the next Dragon Mage. Darek can talk to and control dragons. His whole life changes.

No spoilers in this review. It is non-stop action and adventure. I couldn’t put it down until I had finished all three books. As I said before, action, magic, pirates, and dragons are winners. These authors have done a commendable job.
