New Review! A Reason to Breathe by CP Smith, 4 Cranky Stars

Romantic suspense, the story centers on two main characters, Jack and Jenn. Jack Gunnison is a county sheriff in Colorado. He is an alpha male. He looooves the ladies and the ladies looooove him, but he has no intention of changing his relationship from ‘single’ to ‘in a relationship’. Jenn is recently widowed with a child heading off to college. She was a young wife and mother, so we meet her at around thirty-eight years of age. It’s actually refreshing to meet a lead heroine who is not your run of the mill virginal child-woman. She’s a reporter and winds up in Jack’s town. A few months after her arrival, murders start happening. Our two leads meet over a murder scene. Jenn and Jack – they drive each other crazy, but their attraction is clearly evident and well written. As the body count starts mounting, fingers are pointed and suspicions drawn. At first, it looks like the murders are connected to one of our leads, but then it shifts to the other. I have to say, there are enough editing issues to distract attention. If this bothers you, you are now forewarned. There is, however, plenty of witty banter and intrigue to keep you turning pages. The chemistry between the leads is knock your socks off and the secondary characters are both colorful and wonderful. View all my reviews
