In the Veil of Shadows: Greek Gods Fantasy Romance by Logan Keys

Once again, the storytelling duo of Logan Keys and Nadia Blake take us on a journey of love and finding your place in the world ummm well the underworld with Death himself and Gaea. Trust me it’s a journey that’s fraught with danger and curses and some very angry gods and goddess.
Gaea is a warrior princess. Her life is basically following her brothers path. What he does she does and when he is challenged by Zeus himself she thinks this battle will be fought as mortals. When tragedy strikes she sets out to avenge him and challenges Zeus himself. She winds up in the underworld nude (thanks to those nymphs) and woefully unprepared. She finds herself in a dire predicament but has captured the eye of Thanatos.
Thanatos is death. He is the guy who shows up in his robes to reap your soul. When Zeus went to battle and the soul called to him he spotted Gaea across the way. He is instantly drawn to her but little did he know this warrior princess (no not Xena) would come charging into his life and not in the best of ways. He risks so much to protect her even going as far to imprison her with him in his manor. He is pretty certain death isn’t the company she wants to keep. Tentative friendships turn to tentative love and Thanatos is glad to finally have someone dine with death.
I loved Gaea. Sure, she was impulsive but she’s human and even when the curse happens she still has human reactions. She didn’t take anyone’s bull that’s for sure. I loved that Death was an actual person with actual feelings. He couldn’t put his feelings into human words but he felt for her.
Also, who was the shady lady on the journey to lead Gaea into a trap? I kind of have an idea but not sure. All in all, I think Zeus needs a butt kicking he’s an arrogant jerk. Once again, I love the blending of mythology and romance and some take no prisoners characters. I can’t wait to see where we’ll end up next.
