My rating: 4 of 5 stars
4.5 Cranky Stars
Camden has always been this enigma to me. I mean seemingly on the outside he’s destined for greatness and he’s sweet and kind and good but with this dark edge. Over the course of the series you know he has experienced some depraved things. Things no child should ever endure.
Camden Pearson (He should always be addressed like that he demands respect). He has always wanted to be a politician and has his eyes set on the White House. Heck everyone calls him Mr. President. He is the baby of the group, but he is hiding a sinister secret and it’s that secret is why he is aiming for political aspirations. He sets his eyes on Poppy Beckett. She is a good stepping stone to get what he wants and he will destroy her too. He doesn’t expect that she may be just as innocent and doesn’t deserve to be hurt.
Poppy Beckett is aiming for a Lieutenant Governor position. It’s what her daddy wants her to be. With a fiancé that was basically bribed to marry her life on the outside is perfect. She maintains a perfect image even if it’s not who she is on the inside. She doesn’t expect Camden a boy she babysat for to wreck her perfect world. Relationships crumble and she has to stumble to find her place. He is cold and calculating but she can see he is tortured by something much deeper. When her dad and his chronies activities come to light she can’t help but want to be on Team Pearson. She just hopes that Camden will have her no matter what.
I didn’t expect Camden to be such a blackmailing jerk but he had his reason. I don’t know I had this image in my head and while he did reconcile with that image eventually it took me a minute to get there. Her father is a sick sick man. Yet this isn’t just about that. It’s about Tampas Golden Boy and Tampas Golden Girl coming together in a cataclysmic explosion. They steamed up my kindle and maybe at first not in all the right ways. The tension and chemistry between these two was off the charts. We also got to see the other brothers and their families as well. I think Camden was a great character to round this series out.
