My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is a definite winner in my mind. I was hooked on page one. It is a story of magic in today’s world and the crossing of the Veil. Nova is a very lovable heroine, Castor is her best friend and protector. They both know they are different and don’t belong in the human world. Castor knows his special power but his mother refuses to tell him who his father was. Nova just feels different. Luckily, she has a friend who is a witch and is helping her search for her past. Nova does know that she arrived in the human world when she was 7 years old but other than the memories with the couple who took her in, she remembers nothing. Nothing that is except nightmares, but they couldn’t be real.
Nova, along with Iris knows that she is a Seeker, has telepathic powers, is a good fighter and she will gain her full powers when she turns 30 years old. It is time to find the land through the Veil and possibly the family she can’t remember. Along the way, she is attacked by Goblins and even more questions arise. What is she? How did she throw a fireball- Iris must be mistaken.
Then she dreams again of the handsome stranger with the most glorious blue eyes ever seen. He yells the word “Finlay” as the dream fades. So, in the morning they set out for a town called Finlay hoping they will get some answers. Well, the answers that they find are surprising and, it is a major cliff hanger ending. UGH!!
