4.5 Cranky Stars

Jack had a major accident when a second floor collapsed on him while he was a fireman. He went from convalescing on his parents couch to staying at an inpatient rehab facility trying to get back in shape to go back to be the one thing he adores and that’s a fireman. When his therapist walks in, she looks familiar, but he can’t place her. Come to find out she’s his friends’ sister. Danielle has been burned in a past relationship and all she can do is drown in work to make the pain go away. She has always harbored a crush on Jack. She finds herself falling every day but knows the patient therapist rules would frown upon them. They learn a little bit about each other during their sessions and grown close. Jack wonders if they can have a relationship outside of the facility walls.

PJ has always loved Dylan. He is Jacks best friend and she is Jacks baby sister. The night of her 18th birthday everything changes. Dylan breaks down and admits his feelings. He knows the age difference is something that will be frowned upon. He is willing to fight for her even though her life is just starting out. PJ still can’t believe Dylan is finally hers it seems too real. She keeps putting off telling her parents and that leads to one huge blowup.

This story jumped between the four people and it wasn’t really that hard to follow. It flowed effortlessly. I loved the story of behind each of these people. I felt bad for Jack because his only identity was being a fireman. PJ is learning that it’s tough to be young and in love. Dylan was a good guy he tried to put his feelings on the back burner because he didn’t want to disrupt her life. Danielle was very heart breaking. Cliff is a jerk. I think this book is a lovely story about healing and finding love when you least expect it.
