New Review! Case Two: The Kept (Trudy Hicks Ghost Hunter #2) by Lori Zaremba 5 Cranky Stars
Case Two:The Kept by Lori Zaremba
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
5 CRANKY STARS
I’m giving this story 5 stars just like the first book. The storyline is good in that, just like with the first book, there are several ghosts involved and an old house. Whether good or bad, these ghosts are believable as are their stories. I’m a believer in the supernatural so of course I couldn’t put this down.
This is book two in the ghost hunter/detective series. Gertrude/Trudy was a police detective with the uncanny ability to see and hear ghosts. She is divorced with a teenage son and after a couple of close calls, she retired to open her own agency. Along with her best friends, Dana, a psychologist/medium and Leslie, a lawyer, she embarks on her new career. They travel around the country together with a large crew of cameramen.
Book two is about an old beach house built in the early 1900’s and has been haunted almost since the beginning. Now, the new owners are opening it as a vacation retreat, but the ghosts are not friendly and downright mean. The history of the house is in boxes of papers in the attic. It is up to Trudy, Leslie and Dana to unravel the mystery. They no sooner arrive when they are assaulted by something dark and sinister. All three woman experience dreams of the good ghosts as if they want to communicate. No one is getting much sleep and they are all fearful for their lives. Joe, the FBI agent turned ghost hunter and his crew also work with Trudy and are experiencing similar episodes. When one of the ghosts takes over the homeowner’s mind, the research is almost halted.
However, Trudy refuses to give up. From here on it is nonstop action. The house’s story is more sordid than anyone could imagine. All in all, this story is a good mix of action and adventure. I highly recommend this series.
