I was interested in a story about Anderson Steele since I read his twin brother Lawson's story in Unwritten Law. His story grabbed my heart and I couldn’t get it out of my head. Will he heal? Will he learn to love again? So many questions and I finally got some much-needed answers.
Anderson is surviving. It’s not living because he barely leaves his house and he doesn’t have a relationship with anyone outside of Lawson and Reed. Now that Law and Reed are venturing out on their own that leaves Anders with the dilemma of where to live. He can’t afford the apartment him and Law rented alone so he’s stuck. His anxiety and trauma is rearing it ugly head and he doesn’t know where to go because he wants to be independent and not have to live with Law anymore. This is where Brody comes in. He’s been asking Anders for a date for months and always getting turned down. Now that Anders is looking for a place he offers his spare room. Brody pitches it as he’s not home often because of his law career and it’s a perfect place for Anders to get his bearings. Brody doesn’t realize that having Anders in his space will bring forth feelings he’s trying to hide and doesn’t have time for. Brody starts to analyze his career choice once he hears Anders whole story of why he has PTSD and GAD along with a slew of other acronyms. His feelings start to run deep and him and Anders explore the possibility while trying to slay Anders demons.
I felt bad for Anderson but he was a survivor. I also have GAD and you never know when the simplest thing will trigger an attack. More in my case I don’t have real noticeable triggers it can be anything. I’m glad we got his story and it’s heartbreaking. I couldn’t put the book down. Leaning into the pages wondering what was going to happen next. I think Brody is perfect for Anders. He’s kind and patient and is happy to go at Anders pace. We also get to see Law and Reed and meet Brody’s sister. Also Lucky AKA Meatball was the cutest kitty. I adored Law and Reed but I think Anderson and Brody are now my favorite couple!!
