I am not a great lover of sport themed romances, but I have to say the author has a good balance. Ava is the Public Relations Manager of the Washington Wolves, she's in her late twenties and loves her job and is very good at it. When there was an injury on the team they pulled Matthew out of retirement. Little did Ava know that this was Matthew Hawkins, who so happened to be Ava's older sister's soon to be ex fiancée. Ava had a massive crush on him back then, not knowing how she felt after 10 years and would he even recognise her, she had her reservations about meeting him.
The meeting of the two went well and needless to say this started to blossom into a romance. Ava has never had a good relationship with her family, she was the black-sheep. Avery was the favourite and the one that got their parents approval on everything she did. The story hots up when Avery and her husband Adam are going to renew their vows and wanted Ava to bring a plus one. Well there was no way they were going to let the drama queen know that they were going out together, so it was arranged that she would go alone.
With a few misunderstandings going on with one of the other players Adam Ward. She set off for the ferry alone, but was shortly joined by Adam and then her mum and dad who thought Adam was her boyfriend. Poor Ava, worse was yet to come when she got to the hotel she took Adam to her room to tell him he was going home on the first ferry but as they walk in Matthew was there he had chartered an aircraft to get him there to surprise her. This then was like a bomb going off. Will Ava be able to talk Matthew round, would her family understand their relationship????
