5 CRANKY STARS

Now this is the kind of love story I really like. It starts in South Carolina, but the main body of the story takes place in North Carolina. A prologue introduces us to Blu and if you don’t fall in love with him here, forget reading this book.

Lori lives in South Carolina with her five-year-old daughter and works full time. Both characters have lost their spouses and are single parents. To make things worse for Lori, her boss is a sexual predator, but she needs her job and won’t report him. Her parents live in North Carolina near a ski resort and she desperately-needs a weekend away from her job. After being held up by her boss, she finally leaves, hoping to make the four- hour drive before the snowstorm, and darkness arrive. The next day, she takes little Gabbi to the slopes to learn to ski.

This is where she meets Blu. Blu, his son Ryder and his brother run a company doing tours in the mountains. Since it snowed, the group they have can’t rock climb, so they all go skiing. Gabbi runs into Blu, and the romance begins. Who wouldn’t fall in love with a cute little five-year-old? Mom is pretty nice too. After a fun afternoon on the slopes and in the lodge, Lori and Blu want to get to know each other better. Unfortunately, she must be back to work on Monday so, she must leave on Sunday. Of course, another storm is coming. All I’m going to say is that Blu used to belong to the Mountain Search and Rescue team. The suspense keeps you from closing this book until you’ve finished.
