I want to preface this by saying if you are in a dark place mentally take your time with this book. It's filled with some triggering thoughts and actions. Also if you hate Serena Weinstock as much as I do this will seal the deal on that one. She's a vile human being along with Colton's useless dad.


Brie has never known love and lives in a constant state of fear. She has no safe place. She is bullied at school and at home. Her mother is Serena and she treats Brie like she has leprosy. When the mysterious new boy comes into school she figures he'll be another one to bully her but she doesn't realize Colton will be her saving grace. Colton has suffered a tremendous loss and is forced to be a parent to his mom. He meets Bree and feels this connection to her. He knows he has to save her from the Michael's and Serena's but he doesn't realize how much she saves him and his mom.


Lord this book was a ride. I had to take it in small steps because the abuse is horrible. I'm still shocked by Serena. I knew she was terrible but this takes the cake. I like that Brie wasn't a replacement to his loss. He seen her for her and loved her. I loved that Brie slowly learned to trust and love someone. All in all another winner in my book.
