New Review! Ali Winters, The Reapers, 5 Cranky Stars
This is a young adult reader but unlike some it is not a watered down plot. The author does not insult the intelligence of the reader. The book contains great vocabulary with wonderful context clues. The reader wants to know what will happen next. The twists and turns and romance add drama to this story. The characters are so well rounded for a YA.
The plot builds on the bits of revelation Nivian, the main character, finds out about herself and the mysterious man who comes into her life. She jumps to the conclusion that everyone was against her, but she was wrong because she didn’t communicate her feelings. It is a mistake many people make and that makes her believable.
The author has made the character’s complex, which makes predicting who those friends are very difficult and kept this reader interested. In the story. the main character feels alone and confused by those around her.
Young readers will be able to identify with Nivian’s struggle to discover who her friends really are and how to live her life after it was changed with a chance meeting.
This is a five star story. I look forward to reading more in this series and will recommend it to my friends with young readers.
