New Review! The Du Lac Devil (Book 2) by Mary Anne Yarde, 4.5 Cranky Stars
The Du Lac Devil by Mary Anne Yarde
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
**** 4.5 Cranky Stars ****
Merton, the youngest of the Du Lac brothers hires himself out as a mercenary to swell the empty coffers of Cerniw because he believes that he owes his brother Alden, the king of Cerniw. In order to gain the trust of an unscrupulous overlord he perpetrates deeds that earn him the name of The Du Lac Devil and gets him excommunicated from the church.
Merton and Alden again meet up at Budic's castle in Brittany where Merton escapes to with his men and his infant son and Alden is attending the funeral of Budic's wife, Anna. What follows is a smorgasbord of treachery, intrigue and treason.
This was again a well researched glimpse into the harsh medieval life. It was an intriguing and exciting read filled with danger at every turn that had my heart beating in my throat. It also ends on a nail biting cliffhanger.
