New Review! Forward Progress (Men of Fall #1) by R.S. Grey 4.5 Cranky Stars

Forward Progress (Men of Fall #1)Forward Progress by S.R. Grey
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

4.5 Cranky Stars

I’ve read a lot of fake girlfriend/boyfriend romances, but Forward Progress stood out amongst them all to me. This was a genuine couple who instantly fell for each other. No dancing around and pretending the other isn’t interested. Well Eden tried but that didn’t go so well.

Eden is tasked with taking care of her brother due to a tragic family history. She’s juggling waitressing and trying to raise a 16-year-old boy. It’s not easy. When Paul is accepted to a fancy art/boarding school she knows this is chance of a lifetime yet how will she afford it. When a nicely dressed gentleman approaches her in the diner offering her a job she is immediately on edge. He wants her to be the fake girlfriend of Graham Tettersaw a new football player with a shady past. All she has to do is fake it till the team says it’s over. No problem right sadly she is about to have her world flipped upside down.

Graham has always loved football. When an injury took him out the beloved game, he became addicted to his medicines. Now clean and trying to right all the wrongs in his life he is learning he is doing things for everyone else just not himself. When his manager Jock drops a deal in his lap he knows this is his chance. When the team decides to clean up his image he reluctantly agrees. Anything to get him back into football even if its minor league. When he meets Eden for the first time, he is more than agreeable about the decision and sets out to know this beautiful girl. With a team trying to cultivate an image and Grahams heart making its own decisions he knows this love won’t be easy.

I really liked Graham. He knew what he did was wrong and tackled it head on. He made his lists and checked each goal off. He was trying to redeem his image. Eden was pretty real. She faced real life problems and was doing her best. I loved these two together. They exploded. Their world stopped when they met. It’s almost an instant love type situation. This was my first book by this author and I can’t wait to read more of the Men of Fall!
