New Review! Underwater by Anna B Doe 5 Cranky Stars

UnderwaterUnderwater by Anna B. Doe
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

5 Cranky Stars

This is a good reinvention of a fairy tale. It is well written and interesting. I’m sure the young adult readers will enjoy it. I can see this as a folk tale being told around a large bonfire on a beach. The wise old grandfather would be emphasizing the major points in this story- Be careful what you wish for, and don’t take everyone at face value. Question, question, question your decisions. Sometimes there is more to someone than you could imagine. Look at what is right in front of you before you make a hasty decision. I think you understand what I’m saying.

Back to the story. Marissa is a high school senior living in Hawaii. She has loved Tyson since she first met him years ago. Of course, to him, she is just a friend. In her pursuit of him, she will do anything. This almost brings about her downfall. When he is caught surfing in a dangerous storm and pulled under, she must save him. She pulls it off with the help of a magical creature but her life changes forever. She has three months to get the man holding her heart to admit it or she will be doomed.

Then, along comes Ty’s best friend Chad. He is actually in love with Marissa, but she barely tolerates him. In a bid to make Ty jealous, Chad pretends to be her boyfriend. When all the truths come out, this becomes a cute little love story. I would recommend this book to all ages who enjoy light reading.
