New Review! The Foreseer (The Transcendent Series: A Prequel) by Brie Paisley 5 Cranky Stars
The Foreseer by Brie Paisley
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is a story about a witch with only one magic, visions that predict either past or future events. Luna can't cast spells or conjure anything. She feels like a failure but her coven appoints her The Foreseer. This is such a rare ability, it's been centuries since one was born. She has no family and no way to fight this appointment. She goes to her apartment to get her things before being locked in the Temple. Next thing she knows, she is in a dank basement cell. As she is trying to figure out who betrayed her, she has a vision. She has had this vision many times. She is in the woods when she is confronted by a bear. Along comes a wolf who seems to protect her. Why hasn't this vision come to pass? Why is there always a bear and a wolf?
While thinking about this she decides to sleep, only she has another vision. This one is about an upcoming war. This will be the end of their world as they know it if she can't get out and warn the covens. Suddenly, she is free and running. The vision of war was so terrifying, she concentrates on that and runs for her life. Suddenly, her first vision starts to play out when she sees the huge bear in front of her. Not knowing where she is, she tries to outrun him but he catches her and swipes his claw across her back. It is then that she sees the wolf. What happens next, keeps you on the edge of your seat.
Since this is a prequel, it is very short. I read it in just three hours but I was thoroughly entertained. Now I'll have to see if I've read the rest of the series.
