I don't usually like love stories but sometimes something in the blurb catches my eye. This is one of those stories. It's a coming home love story with a twist. The story is well written and the characters seem real. The descriptions of the surrounding mountains and valley jump out at you. The town seems so quaint that even with the threat of snow you want to visit. It takes place the few weeks before Christmas which is always a magical time.
Cole needs to get away and his Aunt offers her cabin in Jewel. He can stay and watch her birds while she vacations but she'll be back two days before Christmas. Once he gets there, he feels at home with the birds as he has stayed with his Aunt many times. However, the rest of Jewel doesn't make him feel so welcome. He was raised here as a child but he was rebellious. He didn't fit his father's mold. When he gets settled, he meets Tara, an old friend from school. She introduces him to Jesse, the owner of an Apothecary and a male witch. Jesse offers him a job and the rest is the story so I won't go into any more details. It's a cute, simple love story that shouldn't make anyone uncomfortable. You can't control where or with whom you will fall in love.
