Welsh Witch: A King's Obsession: The final hour of Anne Boleyn by Kat Marlowe
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is a fairly short story. I didn't particularly like it in the beginning but writing a historical fiction account is not easy. The author is telling the story of the last hour of Anne Boleyn's life. Very little is really known about Anne as King Henry tried to erase her from history when he married Jane Seymour. If you know anything about history, it is common to write this kind of story by embellishing whatever is known. I'm not sure that the depiction of Anne in the Tower is anywhere close to correct. Everyone that writes about history tends to portray these people as vicious rulers. When they are done with someone, off they go to the Tower for execution.
It does make for an interesting story however. The suspense she builds once halfway through this story made it more enjoyable to read. I like historical fiction. It's fun to wonder what life was like in the "olden" days and the attempts to fill in the blanks is fascinating at times. It only took me 3 hours to read this so if you read like I do, it will be quick. All in all an acceptable attempt to fill in the blanks of history.
