Tale of a Silver Lion: Refuge Ending by Gene Herington
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Silver Lions. Goblins. Bersekers. Oh my!
All we need is a Magical Sword....oh, wait..we DO have a Magical Sword!!
Okay GREAT! We now have all the makings of an EPIC fantasy tale!! Well, okay, maybe EPIC is too strong of a word...but I will certainly say that at SOME POINT in the story one does become engaged in it. And that's a good thing, right???
So...Pencheval is your mysterious, brooding, dark (and I suspect he is DASHINGLY handsome) hero. Or anti-hero. We aren't quite sure which, just yet. He is looking for a bit of respite from being a wildly successful mercenary, but trouble, alas, seems to follow him. And our hero reluctantly takes up his Magic Sword to save the world, albeit with all types of grumbling and complaining.
However, the trouble seems to indicate a much larger problem that involves a rather egotistical and deceptive Goblin Chief of Chieftains who's entire reign is built upon a lie, but he has the numbers right now to start a war.
Though it started off slow, the author does give us hints at the background of our dear hero and how he reluctantly became the infamous killer that he is. Even better, the book ends with a MASSIVE Stallone-worthy cliffhanger that actually leaves you ready for the next book in the series.
Overall, a solid start to what could end up being a very promising series.
