The Locker RoomThe Locker Room by Meghan Quinn
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

4.5 Cranky Stars

Legend says that any upperclassman baseball player who brings his girl to the locker room they’ll have a ring on their finger and married in five years. Past couplings and marriages have proven this was true but Knox Gentry thinks it’s just coincidence and doesn’t play into the hype. Emory is a transplant to Brentwood U and has heard the tale and seen the girls try hard to get into that locker room. She thinks it’s all ridiculous and desperate. She refuses to be that girl.

Emory has left sunny Cali behind with her heart and her mind holding together by very cheap tape. Her high school boyfriend of 6 years was caught in a compromising position and that sent her running. She lands at Brentwood University with her two bet friends to get a library sciences degree. When her campus map smacks a tall handsome guy in the face she’s beyond embarrassed but he also looks oddly familiar. It isn’t until they strike up a conversation does it come to light who he is. She knows she is still broken and goes into this relationship very tentatively but little does she know he will change her life.

Knox Gentry is a baseball god. He is that good but he’s also very modest about his skills and really isn’t this big womanizer people like to think he is. Baseball is his first and only love maybe Oreos coming in a close second. He isn’t looking to find the love of his life but he doesn’t dodge the idea either. When he meets Emory he knows he has found the one. He moves at her pace and shows her what a good guy he is. Slow and steady will win this race but will it end with a broken heart?

I loved Knox. A lot of times sports romances have the guy with this big ego and plays the field (not literally playing sportsball on a field) and Knox wasn’t that guy. He was just a genuine guy who was pretty funny at times with a big heart. Emory was a good mix. She was broken and in a lot of ways innocent but was a spitfire. She might look like a sexy meek librarian but she was far from it. She gave him a run for his money. I loved Mama G too. She made me laugh. I kind of want to know whats going on with Holt? Who’s the girl?? I would love to see everyone get their happily ever after in this book. If you love college sports romances that will span some years that are steamy and swoony this is for you.
