New Review! Magic Man (A Good Guys Novel) by Jamie Schlosser 5 Cranky Stars

Magic Man (The Good Guys)Magic Man by Jamie Schlosser
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

5 Cranky Stars

I just want to sprinkle powder sugar on Jay and lick it off him then slap his scruffy handsome face for breaking my heart. Ok breaking Casey’s heart but that’s neither here nor there. I thought surely you can’t love someone as much as you love Travis and boy was I wrong. He’s a magic man mama!

Jay has made some bad decisions in his life and done the time for it. His one act before he went to the slammer was gifting money to Casey because he knew her life was about to get hard. Now that he’s back out his thoughts of Casey and the baby are on his mind so he heads back to see if she is still around and decides to watch from afar. I know creepy right but seriously he had good intentions and Jay was just trading one addiction for another when it came to Casey. He invites her to the fair where he works and it’s here they share a passionate kiss on a ferris wheel while Jay breaks his bank trying to win Gus a shiny new ring. This is their turning point a chance for Jay to prove to himself that he is worthy of love and having a family.

Casey is teen mom. She was so starved for attention it made her easy pray to August Michael’s sperm donor (seriously he doesn’t deserve the title of father or dad). When Jay shows up on her doorstep with cash in hand she is kind of freaked out but accepts it anyway. Anything to help her get ahead right? Now it’s some time later and she’s burning the candle at both ends because being a single mom is hard and her mother isn’t much help either. When mysterious tickets to the fair show up, she decides that maybe her and Gus need some fun in their life. When she receives help from Jay she strikes up a conversation with him and that sparks something in Casey that she thought was long gone. When tragedy strikes Jay is her hero and she learns that maybe it’s ok to lean on someone else from time to time. Now if only she can convince him he is worthy of her and he is her future?

Dag nabbit Jay!! Why?? Seriously though I think out of all the books this one tops them all. It’s not all magic and perfect. It’s gritty and real. He’s a convicted felon just trying to make something of his life. They don’t have really any money and it’s a day to day life. There are no magical mountains of endless money but there is love and devotion. That’s all you really need in life. We also get to see Jimmy and Mac and their precious one. Gus be still my beating heart. I do at times miss those little moments that made your kid quirky and Gus has quirks. His bucket of jewelry made him a pirate it seemed. I mean who doesn’t love jewelry and shiny things? Also, that moment at the end in the yard! MY PICKLES!! I died laughing. Magic Man is about the struggles and heartache about finding your lobster and making a magical life with just the slightest of hand and quick thinking. “I’ll always choose you, Casey. On accident. On purpose. Everyday.” Sigh If that doesn’t make you want to read this book then why the heck not? Go! Take the crazy lady behind the blog’s advice and run don’t walk to read this one!
