The Protectors Kiss must be the start of a very good series. I hope anyway. It’s here we learn the story of Calliope and Andros. Two beings blessed by the gods to carry out nothing but good in the world.
Calliope is young when she is taken from her home by Octavius. She is forced to shift and fight the gladiators. You see Calliope is a rare white tiger and highly valued. When she is tossed into the arena she vows to help the fellow shifters avenge their families. Calliope soon learns who she truly is and why the handsome gryphon named Andros is sent to protect her.
Andros is a gryphon. He has trained his whole life to use his abilities. When Apollo comes to him with a quest with one tiny caveat he jumps at the chance. Who doesn’t want to appease the gods? When he finds out who he is meant to protect he loses a piece of his heart as well.
The Protectors Kiss gives us a new spin on Greek mythology. It is also here where we are introduced to the Deities of Judgement. I liked that while Calliope could have wilted and gone along with this plan she stood up for not only for herself but others. Andros was told to not fall in love with her but the heart wants what the heart wants. This is a good start to a very interesting series.
