"You will never lose me, baby." Swoon. The words spoken by a man who will burn down Hell to ensure her happiness.

Damian rescued Cara from the worst night of her life. He was sent in to do one thing but did something out of pocket for him which was he held on to her. Cara's parents are dead and her Uncle forced her to flee. One small slip up and she found herself in a nightmare until her avenging angel appeared. On the run together they are just trying to keep Cara safe.

This book has it all. Action and love. It's also a book with a sensitive subject of abuse of multiple kinds so just be prepared. I really enjoyed the gritty parts of this book but man that slow fall into love got my heart. Excellent book you should try it.

New Review! Beautifully Hurt by Michelle Heard 4.5 Cranky Stars

Quinn has loved Eli since she was a young girl. Content to watch him from the shadows (not like in a creepy Joe Goldberg sort of way) and live her simple life running a store with her best friend Katie. One day Eli takes notice of the beautiful woman in the shop across the street. Boy asks girl on a date boy and girl fall for each other. Life is good until tragedy strikes. Quinn must move on from her hurt and Eli must help her navigate these tough times. Eli knows this wont be easy but he will do what he can to keep her safe.

This book was brutal and heartbreaking. Quinn went through it but came out the other side determined to live. I adore Eli and hiw he didn't run he stood by her side. We see a set of characters from another book as well. Warning though if you don't like violence because this book has it in spades but the love outweighs it all.

Review Tour! My Favorite Mistake (Romance in New Orleans #1) by Katherine L. Evans

Title: My Favorite Mistake
Series: Romance in New Orleans #1
Author: Katherine L. Evans
Genre: Steamy/Spicy Small Town Romance
Release Date: November 18, 2021
Cover Design: Jersey Girl Design

“Not everything in life can be sunshine and roses. But that doesn’t mean things can’t wind up being beautiful and amazing. And that’s exactly what you’ll get in “My Favorite Mistake” by Katherine L Evans. This book is a journey, and it will absolutely put you through the wringer emotionally, but it’s all worth it for the HEA awaiting the characters and readers at the end. Going through hell and back proves to be exactly what main characters Connor and Liza need for their second chance to become their HEA. “Mistake” has a wonderfully authentic cadence, the dialogue is on-point, and the emotions are solid.” --

The Brayzen Bookwyrm's Unrighteous Reading Rebellion

Erasing the mistakes of the past is harder than they ever imagined…
Out of sight.
Out of mind.

Connor Deneau knows that the secret to his success is to keep the lost love of his life out of his mind. But when he comes face-to-face with the beautiful and talented new marketing director at the small record label where he works, Connor wonders if there’s a chance to rekindle what they lost. With the help of his meddling, matchmaker best friend, it’s time to repair the past.

Liza Hardin cannot catch a break. Believing she landed her dream job in New Orleans, she’s shocked to discover that the man who shattered her heart is her new co-worker. The last thing she wants is to rehash the past and let him sever the remaining pieces of her heart. But the sexy, brooding Army veteran she so clearly remembers still takes her breath away. Refusing to relent, Liza focuses on reviving the dying record label.

But Liza’s no match for Connor’s matchmaking buddy. Suddenly, she’s questioning everything—even the past. Can she erase her favorite mistake of the past to correct her plans for the future?

•••

MY FAVORITE MISTAKE is a steamy second chance romance, small town southern veteran romance, a hot office romance with a twist, and a matchmaker romance all rolled into one sexy getaway to the Big Easy. It’s the first book in the ROMANCE IN NEW ORLEANS series and will leave you fanning your face and reaching for the tissues.

With his lips still pressed to her neck, kissing and nipping and licking, Connor brushed a strand of hair away from her face with so much tenderness that her soul felt like it was reaching out of her body, attempting to reattach itself to his. The words that whispered in her heart should’ve startled her, but they didn’t.

I still love you, her heart murmured, I never stopped. It’s still you. It was always you. It’ll always be you.

EXCERPT:

There should be a rule in the universe somewhere that said if someone—namely, me—had already dealt with enough shit, then no one could bother said someone for at least twenty-four hours.

Or maybe forty-eight.

A case could be made for seventy-two as well.

But since such a rule did not exist—at least in this universe—I was stuck with my ass on the grass, staring at a bullshit note and wishing I could explode the sender’s brain with my mind. Exploding a brain couldn’t be too far outside my new scope of abilities. I’d twisted the heads off a group of ghouls’ shoulders a few days ago with no more than a flick of my fingers. Making one measly brain go poof should be child’s play, right?

If only.

Though, with my teeth rattling around in my head from the ground shaking beneath my feet, I figured maybe, just maybe, my new abilities may not be a good thing. I mean, the wind whipping through the church could possibly have been a fluke, but the ground shaking like a goddamn maraca?

Probably not.

Still, I couldn’t peel my eyes from that note to save my life, and more? I didn’t want to.

Azrael lied to you. Killian isn’t where you think he is.

Come find me when you’re ready for the truth.

—Essex

The man who I’d called “Father” my whole life was in the ground right now, his body moldering in his casket, and the man who’d set it all into motion had the nerve to pick at the bloody scab that was my wounded heart.

I reached for that stupid note, ready to set it on fire or crumble it up, or something, anything but let it lie in the grass where my dad had been put to rest. A hard hand knocked my fingers away before they could make contact, startling me right out of my ill-conceived plan. My sister stared at me like I’d grown a whole new head—and for good reason. A few months ago, she’d gotten a similar note from our brother, one that would have killed her had she not been utterly and totally dead already.

“Are you okay?” Sloane asked, rolling her eyes at herself as she did so. She’d asked me that same question quite a lot over the last few days, and each time she seemed to curse herself.

I cradled the hand she’d smacked against my chest as I inspected her features—ones that seemed to flicker every couple of seconds from regular Sloane to one so fucking frightening it was a wonder I wasn’t running away screaming.

Poker face, don’t fail me now.

So, I start walking to town, only I get turned around end up at the river where I meet Axel. This guy is HUGE.

With a storm rolling in I don’t have much choice but to trust him and take shelter in his cabin since I’ve been walking for hours AWAY from town.

Several days of rain wash out the road and it looks like I’m stuck here with my giant. Only he’s nothing like I thought he’d be. He’s quiet, watchful, smart, and funny.

Axel

I’ve lived alone for years and I’ve been okay with that until one day she finds me bathing at the river.

She is small, cute, and talks a lot. I find I don’t mind it.

When the storm washes out the only road into town and she is stranded with me a while longer only I am grateful for more time with her.

I like her in my space, I like showing her what I do, and how I survive out here. I like her in my bed.

New Review! Tears of Salvation by Michelle Heard 5 Cranky Stars

Tears of SalvationTears of Salvation by Michelle Heard
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

5 Cranky Stars

I thought Demitri had my heart but Alexei might have just stole it. Who'd have thought the most feared man had a big heart. I mean who doesn't love a man who would burn the world down for the woman he loves?

Alexei is now head of the Bratva but there is one major player he wants to take off the board and that's Sonia Terrero. She peddles flesh and that is against all that he stands for. He also wasn't expecting her daughter Isabella to be someone on his side. Isabella has always been taught to fear Alexei but she hates her mother more. An accident later Alexei and Isabella find themselves thinking maybe the other isn't so bad.

I truly think these two are a power couple. The world could burn around them and they'd come out fighting. It had heart stopping moments and some oh my grab a fan moments. This book has something for everyone. This genre is definitely in her wheelhouse.
