New Review! Grave Watch (Soul Reader #3) by Annie Anderson 5 Cranky Stars

Grave Watch (Soul Reader, #3)Grave Watch by Annie Anderson
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I'm sad. My little dark heart is sad but it ended in the best way. Sloan and her love and finding her long lost relative. It had all I hoped for.

Sloane has just suffered a major blow to the Night Watch and they are still recovering when a knock sounds on their door. It's someone Sloane would have never thought existed. She needs to help stop her brother Essex once and for all. Along with her group and some new friends they team up but it's not without a major loss.

I'm sad this is over. I'm ready for new adventures and new characters though. I love Sloane and Bastian. I even grew to love Azrael for all his mishaps and faults. Another winning series by Annie Anderson

We are at the end. Each member of Eleven has found love some with the last person they expected some with their best friend. In the case of Blake, he found it in the least likely place which was a movie set. He agreed that he would star in his friend Jordans new movie which would have him playing the love interest of Jordan. You see Blake thinks he’s straight and Jordan is very much out and proud. You can kind of see where this is going. Jordan wasn’t expecting Blake he thought surely just another straight guy I must either teach to be gay for a movie or have someone experiment with. He basically has given up on love. When careers and hearts are on the line they must either hide from the world or be out and tell their secrets.

I really loved this series. It was fun to see each guy find love. I liked that Jordan was a fun guy but man he made my heart hurt. His view of love was so skewed but that was with good reason. He was taken advantage of often. Blake finding his true self was very cut and dry. There was no panicking or major setbacks. He just flowed into it but I think he kind of knew all along. A sweet end to a fun series.

Leena’s life is at a crossroads, does she stay with her abusive alcoholic mother or does she strike out on her own? After a few devastating fights with her mom and an out of nowhere breakup with boyfriend Chase, Leena has to make several difficult decisions. Luckily enough our heroine has a guardian angel in her best friend Sydney.

OMG I could so relate to Leena. The parts with the abusive mom hit home for me. Leena is so much more than the hateful words her momma spews at her. There were moments in this story where I had to briefly pause and gather myself. I have never wanted to hug a character so bad in my life. There are gloriously happy moments that just made me smile. Leena got her groove back. There are two deliciously hot men waiting to make her happy. First up is Garrett, her ex-boyfriend’s best friend, he just seems too good to be true. And then there is Brent, a hottie who seems to be too real. One has secrets that could destroy Leena’s chances at a happily ever after. Who will she choose once all the secrets have been revealed?

I loved this story. It did not gloss over the bad and the ugly of dealing with an alcoholic parent. I found it hard to put the story down, I devoured it in one night. It was well written, and such a beautiful story. I will recommend this story to others.

Picked up where it left off. Raelyn, Kody, Raelyn’s brother and Kodys sister are all on the plane headed to Afghanistan to look for Raelyn’s mom. Now they are all there. Been there for a couple of weeks already and still waiting in a hut. Raelyn is getting impatient. She wants to move but Kody is continuously telling her to wait. One night she finally gets up in the middle of the night, grabs her brother, steals the town jeep and takes off.

Raelyn’s brother, his name is Liam by the way, takes them straight to where their mom is. Things didn’t turn out the way Raelyn thought though. Raelyn’s mom wouldn’t even acknowledge her. Raelyn finally told her mom to stop pretending. Her mom finally told her she is not her daughter because her daughter is dead.

One Raelyn mom found out that she was free; she took her son, Liam, and left saying she would come back for Raelyn and left her. Raelyn and another girl got caught and is now being paraded around. Cali is in the same place and Kody is there but locked up.

Cali’s freedom gets bought and they are escorted out. Kody escapes and sees Cali and the guy. They are at an army base getting checked over. Raelyn is still in enemy hands. Her mother is playing both sides. Raelyn tries to escape at every chance. Her mother tries to get rid of her at every chance but Raelyn is stubborn and keeps trying to save her mom as well. Kody and Cali keep trying to save Raelyn. So they all keep getting caught and then “spit back out.”

Raelyn finally got away. Kody found both her and Cali. One of the bad guys threw a bomb that was meant for Raelyn but he hit his own sister instead and then he pulled out another bomb and blew himself up. A big chunk of metal went into Raelyn stomach. Kody grabbed her and Cali and they went as fast as they could to the military base. Raelyn is now recovering and her and the baby are fine. Kody was happy to hear that. They all went home and Kody asked Raelyn to marry him, she said YES.

New Review! Tears of Betrayal by Michelle Heard 4 Cranky Stars

Tears of BetrayalTears of Betrayal by Michelle Heard
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

4.5 Cranky Stars

Who wouldn't want to be Demitris Malyshka? He's been such a mystery just as much as Alexi which is who he is chosen to protect. They live by a code of never hurt an innocent and when a job comes across the wire they must do some investigating. Who Demitri finds is Ariana a seemingly normal girl who knows that her father is a powerful person in the Bratva but she is so removed from that life. He vows to protect her at all cost. Ariana's life is just about getting by. She takes care of her mother who is sick. She isn't prepared for the turmoil her life is about to be tossed into.

I really loved this book. I mean Demitri....hello sir. I love that he will put his life on the line for anyone. Ariana I felt so bad for. Betrayal is harsh and leaves a hole in your heart. It's not all doom and gloom though. There is love and friendships. All in all this book has a little bit of everything.

New Review! A Kiss of Venom by Beena Khan 5 Cranky Stars

A Kiss Of VenomA Kiss Of Venom by Beena Khan
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

5 Cranky Stars

If you loved Beena Khan’s Dark Mafia versions of Beauty and the Beast, then you will love her retelling of Sleeping Beauty.

Ghislaine is an FBI agent who worked for her husband until an accident claimed his life. This accident left her in a coma for three years. After she awakes, she decides to finish the mission. That is until she meets her match in Tyrant Alexander Nikolaev. Then she is faced with the moral decision of kill him or let him into her life.

OMG the darkness of this book was amazing. This is why I am addicted to Beena Khan’s books. I love that she writes strong female characters. The book world needs more of that in books. Ghislaine may have been Sleeping Beauty at the beginning of the story, but by the end, she was a fierce warrior. Alexander may have been ruthless and vicious, but Ghislaine and Noura brought out his softer side. Beena Khan has a way of making the readers spellbound with each story.

I will definitely recommend this story to others, especially if you love dark romance and mafia stories. I give it 5/5 Cranky Stars.

EXCERPT:

The hair on my arms rose. My heart thumped hard, the blood pulsing through my chest into my throat. Looking left and right, my muscles tensed to run or fight.

“Who’s there? What do you want?” I said at the same low whisper, my voice shaking.

A shimmering blur disappeared behind a tree—a featureless something, flashing in indistinguishable color as quickly as a silent whip.

“Laura,” someone said again, gentle and feather-light, drifting between the largest trees in front of me.

I held my breath.

“Laura.” My name resonated through the humid night air, echoing through the sugar maples before it thinned and died.

It was a male voice, full- bodied, but lacking malevolence and hostility. Strangely, it put me at ease. There must be a boy somewhere out here in the woods. I was sure of it. The voice sounded young, maybe my age of seventeen.

Or maybe it was a ghost. My Uncle Dean had told me the locals believed these woods were haunted. But ghosts couldn’t kill. At least that’s what I believed.

“Who are you?” I asked, relaxing my stiff muscles just enough to take a step forward. My shoulders dropped as I exhaled a pent-up breath. Broadening my stance, I leaned forward, raising the branch, and squeezed my eyes shut, hoping to hear it again.

“Laura,” it repeated. The word lingered through the dead of night, ringing softly in my ears. I opened my eyes.

“How do you know my name?” I asked, moving toward the direction of the voice. As a cool breeze rustled my pajama shorts, I wrapped one arm around myself.

A bird chirp rode the wind, followed by several more, weaving into a rhythm of tweets and trills. I looked up. Within the tousle of leaves and sway of thin limbs, perched a gathering of birds, flexing their wings for flight.

I took a step backwards, my eyes fixed on the canopy of leaves.

The bird calls increased, one squawk overlapping the other until their unique melody collapsed, twisting into an eerie song and wing beats.

“A–are you still there?” I breathed, eyeing the woods ahead of me and taking another step back.

A smear of color flashed to my left, and a cloud of leaves rose from the forest floor.

“Don’t go,” I said, breaking from a whisper.

The woods resonated with angry bird speak, their unnatural song thumping in my ears.

“I want to see you,” I shouted above the rising mad twitter.

A shadow skated across the ground at my feet. Wings flapped overhead, and a bird beak met my scalp with a hard peck.

Zodiac Synopsis:

 Zodiac

As President of the Celestial Sons MC, I’ve spent half of my life wishing on stars that I could take back the night Tess Wilkins walked out of my life. Hurting Tess was the biggest mistake I ever made, but I can’t take it back, nor remember anything about that night if I tried. Running my MC was the only thing that kept me going over the years, but now she’s suddenly home, and I’ll do anything to win her back, even if it means revealing the secret, I’ve been keeping from her for the last twenty years and ruining any chance I have of holding her again.

Tess

For twenty years, I’ve avoided my hometown of Rising Star, Texas and all the memories and ghosts that I would rather leave buried there. Returning home wasn’t part of the plan, but when my grandmother suddenly fell ill, I knew I had no choice but to return home to care for her. What I didn’t anticipate was for all those ghosts I ran away from to find me the second I walked through the door, or for him to ride back into my life harboring a twenty-year secret that is even more devastating than the reason I left Rising Star in the first place.

Tempest (The Veil Chronicles #1)Tempest by C.J. Campbell
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

4 Cranky Stars

This book kept me guessing from the beginning. It kept rolling smoothly along. I liked it. I would recommend it to others.

Imagine thinking all of your life you are just a normal person, well as normal as can be with disabilities, and then one day all that comes crashing down. You are “beyond normal”. For Lexi, that’s exactly how it was and how it happened. The parents that Lexi thought where her parents really aren’t, they are just charged with keeping her safe until the time comes for Lexi to know who she truly is.

Lexi started College in a new town because her “parents” figured it would be safe. She meets a boy named Connor and Connors dad is a Professor, Professor Donoghue and Killian who helps at the college and helps Connors family. Lexi is visually impaired and Connor is in a wheelchair and Killian has a speech impediment. All are of something else.

This was a good book. Can’t wait for the next one. I would recommend this to people.
