True love met on a dating app and shared a love of The Lost Boys. No not the sweet Keifer Sutherland movie from the 80’s but a book written by Pen Aster. A retelling of Peter Pan with the main characters being gay. Who knew that Donovan’s favorite book would reflect his life? He talked to this guy on the app, and they shared life stories and discussed the fact that Donovan wasn’t fully out just yet. Donovan thought they connected and when it came time to maybe meet, he wondered if he could through with it. Parker was a college student who worked at Pride House. A place for LGBTQ plus teens to have a safe landing place. His life was good but his crush on his professor was a little problematic. This wasn’t the only guy he was crushing on so what was a guy to do?


“I kissed you, knowing the flavor of your ruin.” I mean what more can I say. I struggled to write this review because I was afraid of giving anything away. I still might hide this. I’ve deleted and typed it a million times. I really loved Donovan and Parker. I liked that it was Vans first experience with a man, and it was beautiful. They were both gentle with each other. Heck I even love Marcos. I need a man like that in my life. All in all another awesome heartfelt yet sexy story by A.M. Johnson

I'm sad this is the final in an amazing series. I feel this one had an interesting storyline and ugh for a while there in the end I was mad. I went through the stages of grief quickly. I cursed you then I forgave you.


Ethan is Preston and Preston is Ethan. Remember that ok. He has two identities because of his job. When he is tasked with getting Rosie to safety by her mafia boss father he doesn't know the girl he watches while he does yard work at a mysterious house will be the girl he falls for. Rosie has been trapped inside for 7 years minus a stint at a psych hospital. She's been told that she's crazy and the world is crazy and inside is best. One night on a whim she decided now's her chance to escape it all but she didn't realize the man she fantasizes about will be her hero.


I want to say more. Yes they fall in love no there isn't a huge age gap yes they fall quick. Keep in mind that Rosie has no experience in the real world and this is very real to her. Ethan has built some kind of friendship with her in odd ways. They are perfect for each other. This book also gets spicy!!! I liked that mafia boss dad was deep down a good person. I hated mom. I breezed through this book quick and that hasn't happened in a while for me.

"What if I'm better off never knowing what happened?" Those are thoughts that run through Tess Porter's mind when she wakes up in a hospital bed with broken bones and a fuzzy memory. The last thing she can remember is anxiously awaiting a Christmas break visit from her boyfriend, James Potter.


Her parents are acting strange and nobody will tell her anything. She can't figure out why James hasn't been to visit her, but then she has two visits from him late at night when nobody is around. But, is he really there, is it a dream, or is it hallucinations brought on by the pain medications she is taking?


There was a lot of tension in the book as Tess begins to remember what led to her injuries. Along the way, she also discovers a lot about her parents that might have been better left unknown. When the truth is finally revealed, the horrors that transpired to leave her injured are almost more than she can stand. "Sometimes the only way out of a bad situation is to go straight through it."


This story grabbed me from the first and I just had to keep reading to find out how Tess was injured and what had actually happened. Even though I had part of the story figured out before it was revealed, the story was thoroughly engrossing and very well written and kept my interest up to the end.


The book is full of emotion, grief, acceptance, and all of the struggles that are involved in this process. "There are no safe spaces." Tess meets a young girl who is dying and discovers that some things are still worth living for. "Don't dwell in the darkness. Linger in the light."


Even though I am well beyond the target audience for Young Adult books, I will remember this one for a long, long time. I would recommend it for anyone going through a hard patch, dealing with loss or grief, or just looking for some inspiration. The book is part thriller, part suspense, part romance, and part coming of age. The reader can learn a lot about relationships from this book and also a lot about forgiveness.
