Release Blitz! Crashing Together by Lyssa Cole

Crashing Together
Lyssa Cole
Publication date: May 30th 2019
Genres: Adult, Contemporary, Romance
It’s an age old story….
A summer fling….
A temporary thing…
His name was Cole and I couldn’t resist him. He was everything a girl could want in a summer romance. A hot, tanned, surfer with blonde hair and blue eyes… oh and let’s not forget about all those muscles and the six-pack I couldn’t stop staring at.
We agreed to just sex. Lots of sex. Lots of fun. No titles, no relationship, and certainly no love.
Until the sex started to feel like something else.
Something more..
Something way more…
But for him?
It was still just sex.
Until it wasn’t.
Until everything we didn’t mean to build unraveled in a heap of secrets, lies, and broken trust.
We came crashing together but will our summer fling survive the waves?
EXCERPT:
Addi
“You’re in over your head and you know it.” Leigh lifts her frozen margarita to her lips and eyes me over the sugar rim.
“I am not.” I roll my eyes and look around the smoky bar. I don’t know why I even let Leigh talk me into coming here. It’s dark, a little sketchy, and the millions of fog machines fill the place with smoke so thick you’d think they allowed cigarettes in here.
“You’re in denial, Addi. You can’t even look at me.”
I snap my eyes back to her. “It’s hard to see with all this smoke.” I wave my hand around for dramatic effect. I’m so in denial but she doesn’t need to know that.
Leigh laughs and rolls her eyes. “Yeah okay girl, whatever you say.”
“The drinks are delicious though.” I raise my glass before bringing to my lips to it, licking the sugar rim.
It’s as if a storm is brewing, ready to take over at any minute, inside my belly. Awake at night, I stare at the ceiling as it flips and twists, growing worse.
The storm named Cole.
He fills my bloodstream, running through my veins, and follows me everywhere I go. No matter what I do, I can’t stop it.
I was a fool thinking I could and I’m a fool now as I sit here and let it happen.
I’m falling hopelessly in love with Cole.
It’s unreal, consuming, and lighting me on fire from within.
I’ve never felt anything like it before. The more I see him, the more I want. And Leigh is absolutely correct.
I’m in over my fucking head.

Release Blitz! Work in Progress (Cook County #1) by BJ Harvey

Title: Work in Progress
Series: Cook County #1
Author: BJ Harvey
Genre: Romantic Comedy
Release Date: May 22, 2019
Flipping houses if not for the weak of heart. Neither is falling in love.
Jamie Cook is a work-in-progress. He’s always wanted what his parents have: a good marriage, lots of kids, and financial security. He thought he’d have the first two with his ex-girlfriend while the third would come once he got his house-flipping business off the ground. When his ex doesn’t subscribe to his five-year plan, he makes Cook Brothers Construction his sole focus. Then he moves next door to April Williams, a sassy single mom he can’t stop riling up. Throw in her matchmaking mother-in-law, who’s set her sights on Jamie being April’s knight in a leather tool belt, and a house threatening Jamie’s sanity, and it should be a recipe for disaster, but Jamie wants this three-month project to last forever. That’s if he can stop being the neighbor from hell and prove to April he’s not just flipping a house—he wants to flip her heart.

“Jamie?”
“Yeah, buddy?”
“So, are you my new dad now?”
I open my mouth to say something, but nothing comes out.
Before I’m able to find the power of speech again, he continues, “But you’re my boss too?”
I decide to play along. “Your boss?”
He nods. “At the house. Building and stuff.”
“Well, not exact—”
“So that makes you my dad boss then?” He has the most serious look on his face, and I’m totally out of my depth here.
“Um…” I look to the door, willing April to walk through it and save me.
“Dad boss then,” he says again with a nod. “That’s good. Means I can get more money now.”
I cough, reaching over to the nightstand to take a long, much-needed drink from my coffee cup. I say the only thing that comes to mind. “Sure thing, buddy.”
“Awesome,” he says, a huge smile transforming his face. “Then I can buy flowers for Mom, so the next time you break our garden, I can fix it and make her smile like you did.”
“That’s a great idea. Now… have you seen my pants?”
“Are you not wearing pajamas?” Without warning, he lifts the sheet covering me from the waist down. “Oh, you’ve got big boy boxers like me. Mommy says I can only wear them when I wear shorts though. Are you sure you wore pants last night? Maybe you wore shorts because you’ve got your big boy boxers on.” And thank fuck I kept them on before falling to sleep last night.
“I was definitely wearing pants. Do you want to look in the bathroom for me?”
“It’s okay. I don’t need to. I saw Mommy carrying them into the kitchen.”
“Lovely?” I yell, hoping she can hear me. When a loud beat starts coming from downstairs, my bullshit sensor starts pinging. April is up to something, especially since it’s the exact same Queen song I was playing the night we first met. Two can play this game.
“Should we go get pancakes?” I ask.
“Yeah!” he says, jumping up and down before running out of the room.
I move to the bathroom and use the facilities. Searching for my clothes, I come up empty. Sure enough, my pants have indeed disappeared. With nothing else left to do about it, I walk out of the bedroom and down the stairs, wearing nothing but my boxer shorts.
I stop still the moment I enter the kitchen. Just as I’d imagined, April is sitting at the dining table, coffee in hand, her legs up, her ankles crossed on a chair with a wicked smirk on her face. Her only saving grace is the huge plate of pancakes piled high in the middle of the table.
“Hey Ax, how’s breakfast?” I ask.
“So good,” he groans, stuffing another forkful of pancake in his mouth.
“What are you doing after school today?”
His head snaps up. “Nuff-thing,” he says with a mouthful of food.
“Good. I was thinking you could bring your mom and gran over and we could give them a tour of the house now that it’s finished.”
“Oh wow. Yeah,” he says, puffing out his little chest. “I can show them where I worked.”
“Yep,” I reply with a grin. With his attention back on his rapidly emptying plate, I move in front of April. ”You look good in my tee. Did you also find my pants on your travels?”
Her lips twitch. ”I thought I’d do some laundry.”

New Review! Two Like Me and You by Chad Alan Gibbs 5 Cranky Stars

Two Like Me and YouTwo Like Me and You by Chad Alan Gibbs
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

5 Cranky Stars

A very different story about two school students helping a 90-year-old get to France to find his true love.

Edwin Green was nobody special, but his ex-girlfriend had become a famous celebrity. He was still in love with her a year after they broke up, or so he thought!!! Parker Haddoway kept herself to herself until she was teamed up with Edwin to do a school project. From then on Parker involved Edwin in her adventure with getting Garland Lenox an ex WWII veteran back to France to find his one and only true love, Madeleine.

The antics that these three get up to will have you chuckling to yourself. It is very poignant in places.

I don't think I have ever come across a book that has been written like this before, it had me laughing, smiling, wondering and even sad.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book, congratulations to the author!!!

New Review! #Pranklove in Blue (#Love Pranks #3) by Sunniva Dee 4.5 Cranky Stars

#PrankLove in Blue (#LovePranks, #3)#PrankLove in Blue by Sunniva Dee
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

4.5 Cranky Stars

I love KPop!! Not just the music but the character in this fun heartwarming book. Still present are the pranks between the Blossoms and the Dudes but underneath it all is love sweet love and giving a middle finger to the long-written rule of a Blossom must never date a Dude. A rule Kitty and Saki ran over long ago.

Ninni is studying for a degree in Sequential Arts. She dreams of being a cartoonist and her professor sees such promise in her. She’s a quirky girl who loves anime and dresses each day as if she was one of her favorites. She lives to prank the Dudes with her girls and life seems to be going according to plan or so she thought. She’s always liked Long Cheng aka K Pop. He so fits her lifestyle with his smart brain and easy-going attitude. When they come together their lives will be altered.

Long Cheng is a math genius and the easiest going out of the Dude Den. He just rolls with life and maybe it’s because of his culture barrier. He pranks the Blossoms with the best of them, but his heart belongs to Ninni. He tries to convince her to forget the rule between the warring houses and take a chance on him. When they finally decide that they deserve what Blossoms and Dudes before them have done it’s going to be a forever kind of thing. KPop is a forever kind of guy and he loves Ninni with all his heart.

I liked watching Ninni come to grips with her life changing. She just wants to stay at this particular moment in life living in the Blossom house and pranking the dudes. She struggled and I think that gave her a real quality to her character. K Pop was easy to love and I think he was my favorite of the dudes so far but we have what 2 more to go? #Pranklove in Blue sways a little different than the other books but it’s still lighthearted and funny. There are some good ones especially the one that plays on their paranoia!! I can’t wait to see what else is in store for these two houses and what will K Pop and Ninni deal with next.

New Review! Chasing Souls by Tia Silverthorne Bach 4.5 Cranky Stars

Chasing SoulsChasing Souls by Tia Silverthorne Bach
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

4.5 Cranky Stars

This is a good versus evil story. It is also a story about werewolves, angels, witches, demons, vampires and other strange creatures. I enjoyed it immensely. It is basically a YA novel, but it will be loved by all ages. It rates 4.5 stars because there is a series before this. The events in that series are constantly referred to and that leaves one wondering. In the author notes at the end, the previous series is mentioned. If this had been noted in beginning, I would have started there. It is a stand alone novel, but I like to read all stories containing the characters in order.

This is a story about 17 y.o. twins Jackie and Maddie who just happen to be werewolves. Maddie is headstrong and in love with a vampire. Jackie is quiet and reserved. They love each other deeply even though their temperaments are completely different. Both girls and their younger brother are home schooled so while Maddie has Gunner, Jackie has little hope of ever finding true love (or so she thinks). There is many secrets in this family that requires they stay hidden and away from most humans. The girls are about to find out that their lives are much more complicated than they could have ever imagined.

The live on a compound hidden in the mountains but evil has found them and is out for revenge. Unbeknown to the girls, there is a military bunker under their home. Their Dad works alongside the human military when needed. The demons that are now on their threshold are a new species and more powerful than ever. The whole family must fight together to solve the mystery of why and the humans and angels join this fight. Lots of good old-fashioned clean action and relationships.
